Hawaii Foreclosures Ranked 34th In 2008

The home foreclosure crisis finally hit Hawaii in 2008.
There were 3,346 home foreclosure filings in Hawaii in 2008, up 229 percent over 2007, and the state's ranking in foreclosures per household jumped from 43rd in 2007 to 34th in 2008.
Hawaii had a rate of one foreclosure filing for every 0.6 households, according to the year-end report released by RealtyTrac.
Nevada continued to have the nation's highest foreclosure rate, with 7.2 percent of its households in some stage of foreclosure during the year. California had 837,665 foreclosure filings in 2008, a 109 percent increase from 2007.
The national foreclosure rate was up 81 percent from 2007. There were 3,157,806 foreclosure filings for the year. The report found that more than 1.8 percent of all U.S. households were in some state of foreclosure during the year. |
